Here at Be Heard by Kimberley, we offer therapy in a few different formats, to best suit our clients’ needs.
Individual therapy is a counselling session which typically occurs one-on-one between yourself and your therapist. Depending on appointment availability, you may attend these therapy sessions via a phone call, an online video call, or in person.
If you choose to participate in group therapy with Be Heard by Kimberley, you can expect a small group therapy session that is hosted by our experienced facilitator. Group therapy sessions have limited places, to enable each person the opportunity to participate equally. These sessions may occur via a phone call, an online video call or in person.
“& Beyond Vision” is an emotional and practical support group, which has been designed to support people who are struggling with a new diagnosis or recent changes in their vision loss. This program is conducted over 10 weeks, with a 2-hour session each week.
At Be Heard by Kimberley, we are currently able to provide therapy services to individuals who are over the age of 18 years old.

We are able to conduct Disability Awareness Training & Workshops for all age groups, including children, adolescents and adults. Our experienced facilitator currently holds a valid Working with Children (Blue) Card, NDIS Worker Screening Card, and National Police Check.
Yes, all services provided at Be Heard by Kimberley are completely confidential. If you have any questions, please discuss these with your therapist before starting.
During your initial consultation at Be Heard by Kimberley, you can expect to have a 75 minute appointment with your therapist. This time will be spent getting to know each other, discussing your reasons for reaching out for support, and how we can support your goals.
Yes, although costs to you may vary depending on funding sources.

It is possible for some individuals to cover the costs of these services using funding streams such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), My Aged Care (MAC), or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).

Vision loss counselling is designed to support individuals who have experienced partial or complete vision loss. It can assist clients to process emotions such as grief, frustration and anxiety, as well as develop helpful coping strategies for independence and well-being.
The short answer is anyone. Anyone who is experiencing difficulties adjusting to a diagnosis of legal blindness, anyone who has experienced a significant change in their vision, or anyone who is struggling to cope with living with vision loss due to changed circumstances, may benefit from vision loss counselling. The therapy provided at Be Heard by Kimberley is designed to be empathic, supportive and empowering, while we walk together on your journey to living the way YOU choose.
The topics which are covered in each therapy session will vary, depending on the needs of each client. However, topics that are commonly raised include emotional adjustments, building resilience, strategies for daily living and independence, communication skills, and navigating changes in self-identity and relationships due to changed vision.
All our therapists here at Be Heard by Kimberley have obtained tertiary qualifications in the mental health field and undertake ongoing professional development to maintain their knowledge and training in areas of specialisation.
